  • The Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius is an ancient Roman statue in the Campidoglio, Rome, Italy. It is made of bronze and stands 3.5 m tall. Although the emperor is mounted, it exhibits many similarities to standing statues of Augustus. The original is on display in the Palazzo Nuovo, with the one now standing in the open air of the Piazza del Campidoglio being a replica made in 1981 when the original was taken down for restoration in the Palazzo.

  • The stone Mammoth statue located at Park of Ciudadella in Barcelona (Spain). This impressive statue is now a symbol of the park. It was built following the ideas of Norben Font i Sague, a naturist who planned to build a series of sculptures of prehistoric species in real size. Unfortunately the project was not finished after he died.<br />

El Mamut de Piedra de la Ciudadela (Barcelona). Esta impresionante estatua se ha convertido en uno en uno de los puntos emblemáticos del parque de la Ciudadela. Se realizó según la idea del naturalista Norbert Font i Sagué, que pretendía colocar en este parque una serie de esculturas de grandes especies prehistóricas desaparecidas, esculpiéndolas en piedra y a escala real, aunque su muerte impidió que se continuara la serie.

Grand-Hornu is an old industrial mining complex in Hornu in the municipality of Boussu, Belgium. It was built by Henri De Gorge between 1810 and 1830. It is a unique example of functional town-planning. Today it is owned by the province of Hainaut, which houses temporary exhibitions in the buildings. As one of four Major Mining Sites of Wallonia, UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site in 2012.

En el pedestal de la estatua, figura la siguiente inscripción:<br />
"La reina doña Isabel II, a solicitud del Ayuntamiento de Madrid, mandó colocar en este sitio la estatua del señor rey don Felipe III, hijo de esta villa, que restituyó a ella la corte en 1606, y en 1619 hizo construir esta Plaza Mayor. Año de 1848."

Fue inaugurado en 1778 y recibe su nombre por ser ésta antiguamente la salida de Madrid hacia Alcalá de Henares.
