Fernando de Noronha ia an archipelago of 21 islands situated four degrees below the Equator line. The area is a special municipality of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Archipelago is formed by the mountain peaks of a volcanic cordillera, which base is located about 4.000 meters depth, the Atlantic Median Dorsum.
