About MIGUEL PEREIRA

Miguel Pereira was born in La Coruña (Spain, 1968). He holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a Major in International Marketing, and he has traveled all over the world developing his style, always sensitive to human emotions and visual metaphors.

In 1990-91, Pereira joins the Photography Society at his college (Dublin City University). After a brief stint in the fashion industry (1992-95) he settles down in Miami where his photo work revolves mostly around the glamour business. In 1998 he is sent out by The Miami Herald to cover the France Football World Cup, with the assignment to capture the color and the energy of the competition. In 1999 he moves to Los Angeles, he studies with Peter Reiss at UCLA, and starts capturing the stimulating lifestyle and architecture in Los Angeles from different angles.

In 2001 he returns to his home country, Spain, where he presents his first individual exhibition, “In Transit” (Galería Balboa, Madrid, 2003), with images about the lives of local people commuting in public transportation to their daily occupations in various countries around the world. In 2004 he completes his professional photography studies at EFTI, and in 2005 he presents “Think Twice” (EFTI), an ironic vision of Los Angeles; a set of double images confronting dramatic contrasts in lifestyle. His latest exhibition, “Reflections on Fashion” (EM7, Madrid, 2009) portraits the architecture of European cities reflected in fashion store windows, emphasizing the contrast – again -- between modern fashion and traditional architecture.

In 2009 he co-founds Visual Noise (www.visualnoise.es), a photo and video production agency based in Madrid, working mostly with commercial clients.

Pereira has published his work, mostly portrait, travel and reportage, in many magazines and newspapers around the world. He has also worked in the music industry, producing the album covers for several well-known artists in Spain. In the last few years, his work expanded gradually into the advertising and commercial area.

Currently, Pereira distributes his work internationally through the following agencies: Getty Images, Cultura Creative, Wostok, and Gran Angular. He is based in Madrid, and he is available for work anywhere in the world.
