About MIGUEL PEREIRA


Miguel Pereira was born in La Coruña (Spain, 1968), he has a Bachelor in Business Administration with a major in International Marketing, and has travelled all over the world developing his reportage style.

In 1990-91, Pereira joins the Photography Society at his college (Dublin City University) and he decides to dive into the world of images. After a stint in the fashion industry (1992-95) he settles down in Miami where his photo work revolves around the glamour business. In 1998 he was sent out by The Miami Herald to cover the France Football World Cup, with the assignment to capture the color and the energy of the competition. In 1999 he moves to Los Angeles, he studies photography with Peter Reiss at UCLA, and starts capturing the stimulating Los Angeles' lifestyle, architecture and people from different angles.

In 2001 he returns to his home country, Spain, where he presents his first exhibition, "In Transit" (Galería Balboa, Madrid, 2003), which revolves around public transportation, through images about the lives of local people, commuting to their daily occupations, in various around the world. In 2004 he completes his photography studies at EFTI, and in 2005 he presents "Think Twice" (EFTI), an ironic vision of Los Angeles; a set of double images confronting dramatic contrasts in lifestyle.

Pereira is currently based in Madrid, and he is available for work anywhere in the world through his own content company, Mindset, as well as through the agencies he has contract with: Getty Images, Gran Angular and Via Visuals.
